Wellington Boots

Did you know that wellington boots were born in the early 1800s before the Battle of Waterloo. Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington officer of the British Army was fed up with the traditional "V" shaped Hessian Boot high cut and tasselled - too impractical so off to his shoemaker he went and voila - a lower cut, no fuss boot was created.  And naturally fondly named after the Duke.  The welly as we know affectionately call it was born!
